Le gouvernement et le peuple béninois rendent un hommage mérité à sa mémoire.
Né le 3 septembre 1983, Dokounon Grégoire Ulrich Fiacre GBEDJI-OBA était officiellement guide touristique depuis 2010.
Troisième né d’une fratrie de dix enfants, il est le fils de Feu Jean Dêdomè GBEDJI-OBA, instituteur hors classe, et de Justine KOLIKPA, cuisinière à l’ex école normale de Natitingou.
Fiacre Gbédji, père de six enfants, était éducateur dans le centre « Le bon samaritain » de Natitingou qui est un centre d’accueil pour les orphelins.
Il était membre de « Ile de paix », une ONG belge de développement et accompagnait de nombreux touristes lors de leurs expéditions, au Bénin, au Togo, au Burkina Faso, au Ghana.
Associé à Laura, une partenaire occidentale, il s’investissait dans la construction d’un centre pour orphelins à Toucountouna, la parcelle devant abriter ce centre était déjà acquise.
Depuis 2016, il était le Secrétaire général de l’Union des Guides et Transporteurs des Touristes de la Pendjari (UGTP). Union qui compte près de 80 guides qui travaillent en priorité sur les sites touristiques du nord-Bénin mais aussi en liaison avec les autres sites touristiques au centre et au sud du Bénin.
Il était de nature très jovial mais avec un caractère très trempé et très fort. Il a donné sa vie aux autres, en s’occupant des enfants, des animaux, des orphelins, et des touristes.
Fiacre est mort en martyr de la Pendjari alors qu’il accompagnait deux touristes français dans la découverte du parc.
L’annonce de sa mort est intervenue le 5 mai 2019.

Born on a September the 3rd in year 1983, Dokounon Grégoire Ulrich Fiacre GBEDJI-OBA has officially been working as a tourist boy guide since 2010.
Third born in a family of ten kids, he is the son of late Jean Dêdomè GBEDJI-OBA, a remarkable teacher and of Justine KOLIKPA, a cook in the former teacher's school of Natitingou.
Fiacre GBEDJI, dad of six was also offering his time as teacher in the Orphan Center "le Bon Samaritain" of Natitingou.
He was member of "Ile de paix", a Belgium Development NGO and used to guide tourists during their different expeditions in Benin, Togo, Burkina Faso and Ghana.
He partnered with Laura, a foreign mate and used to invest himself into the construction of an orphanage in Toucountouna. As a matter of fact, the piece of land for the building was already available.
He's been the General Secretary of the PTTGU since 2016, the PENJARI TRANSPORTERS AND TOURISTS GUIDES UNION, made up of about 80 guides actively working on tourism sites in the north of Benin but also linked to other tourism industry sites in the center and south of the country.
Even though strong and hot, he was a quite nice human being.
He gave his life to the others, while taking care of kids, animals, orphans and tourists.
Fiacre died as Martyrs in the Penjari park while guiding Two French tourists in discovering the park.
His death has been announced on May 5th, 2019.
